Last Email from Mission Field - West Virginia Charleston Mission

Well, it's sad to say that this is it. My last full week as a missionary for my Lord and Savior.
I'd just like all of you to know, that I know that this gospel is true. I know that He lives and loves us. I know that he has a plan for each one of us and that when we are obedient to His commandments, the blessings do come!
My mission has been such a life changer for me and I am so grateful for this chance I have had to serve. West Virginia and Virginia will forever be apart of my heart.
Thank you for supporting me and helping me along in this amazing journey.
See y'all soon.
Love, Sister Autumn Schoemig

Last week pictures - 1/8/18

I got a boyfriend this week

Y'all thought this would be a cheesy "last" email?
Nope.
You can't expect anything less from this sister missionary. ;)

I hope you get through this whole email, because we've had a CRAZY week. Full of the unexpected.

MONDAY: We went and taught Brent Davis about the plan of salvation and then we went and taught Cheryl about Follow the Prophet (talk about crazy timing...)

Funny quote of the day:
Sister Jefferies: Sister LOOK!!
Sister Schoemig: oooh.
Sister Jefferies: No. There's a rudolph on that house.
Sister Schoemig: OOOOHHH.

TUESDAY: We had like the most killer day IVE EVER HAD IN CROSS LANES. We taught Brenda Anderson about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We found a new named Tina! Her late husband was a former that we finally picked up! She didn't have too much time but she let us in and talked about the Book of Mormon, she said her late husband loved talking to the missionaries so thats a good sign!! :) We went and tried a former named William who told us we could come back on Friday. (I'll come back to him later.) We went to dinner at the Suttles, then we went and taught the Gills. (this is where my email title comes into play) Godric, the little eight year old boy, has taken up a fascination with me, and he has now decided that I'm his girlfriend, LOL.

Funny quote of the day:
"No one likes squash (it was meant to be squatch) jokes, Sister!!" -Sister Schoemig
"You know its serious when Sister Schoemig locks the car." -Sister Jefferies

WEDNESDAY: We  had district meeting, we played Exploding Kittens for more "stress relief".  We tried lots of peeps. Some lady yelled and swore at us because we were wearing skirts in like 0 degree weather. #youonlymissionaryonce Then we had dinner and coordination at the Haupts. :)

THURSDAY: We weekly planned. FOR THE LAST TIME. ðŸ¤˜ We went and tried Dallas, Ruth, some potentials...no one was home. BUT we taught Barbara and Joanne, it was kinda crazy because they took in some dog that was lost, the owners were on their way to get the dog, and all that but we taught them about the plan of salvation. We were going to put them on date...but it definitely wasn't the right time. Hopefully next time! When we were driving back home. that guy William from above? Had his mom call us and rip us apart, telling us not to contact them ever again. Lol that missionary life.

FRIDAY: We tried A LOT of people...no one answered because ITS FREAKING COLD OUTSIDE. We taught Cheryl about obedience. :) She is just doing so awesome. :) :) We taught the Gills again about Following the Prophet (what a coincidence that that is the lesson we are on with like everybody lol)

SATURDAY: We had a really rough day of trying lots of less actives in second ward. And to top it all off...we got transfer calls. Which ended up turning out NOT THE WAY WE WERE EXPECTING. They called and told us oh well Sister Schoemig is going home...but Sister Jefferies is leaving Cross Lanes too! It was a shock. The zone leaders called us back a a little later...they felt so bad for us...that they got permission to tell us what was going on...Sister Jefferies is just going to be in a trip ship in Teays Valley.

SUNDAY: We went to church at the second ward. Then we called our zone leaders to get more details because basically EVERYONE is confused about us getting doubled out. So we found out that Sister Jefferies will still be covering cross lanes. (we are not sure all the details of it, but thats all we've heard) President is supposed to be calling us soon to give us the run down of what we need to do. We ate lunch at Betty Junes. :) We worked on our area books all day, and then went and saw the Gills again! :)

So basically we had one CrAzY week, but we are still alive and standing. :) CROSS LANES FOR THE WIN.
I LOVE YOU ALL TO THE MOON AND BACK.

Next to the last pictures - 1/1/18

Wait...it's 2018??

SOOOO...I don't have a lot of time...BUT ITS 2018!!!! We didnt really celebrate at all...in fact this morning...we woke up and were like oh it's 2018.

This week we did some service for the Ruffell family. IT WAS SO FUN. We primed two of their rooms and it is starting to look way good in their home!

I was watching a face to face this week of some musical artists and one of the girls said...."Do exactly what your scared to do"...so basically thats my motto this year. TO DO EVERYTHING (okay...maybe not everything...) I AM SCARED TO DO.

We had interviews with President Lindhardt and it was sooo good. He was really proud of me for sticking through my last couple transfers. I walked in and he goes..SIster Schoemig! You've had a .....*makes roller coaster motion with hands* couple of transfers! :) lol.

We picked up a lady named Sherri, we helped her move in her new couch and then taught her the restoration. She was really excited to read from the Book of Mormon which makes me excited, because SOMEONES EXCITED TO READ FROM THE BEST BOOK EVER. ❤

It snowed friday night, so saturday was working in the freezing cold snow!! We almost ran into the car in front of us....so we drove like old ladies all the day long. SUPER SLOW. :)

Church got canceled in the 2nd ward, and teays valley, and we only had sacrament for the 1st ward so we went to 1st ward!  We picked up a lady named Ruth Waters, she was one of those ones that the more we talked the more solid she was! She loves Joseph Smith and the book of mormon! Hopefully it all goes well!!

ANYWAYS.... I am so glad I have been able to spend all of 2017 serving the Lord.  I expect 2018 to be the same...just in a different....setting. :) I can't start on all the cheesy "i love my mission" stuff till next week....well because i might cry.

SOOOOO
I LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK!!!!

18 months pictures - Dec. 26, 2017

18 Months Later

Hey fam bam and friends. :)
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!
MONDAY: We went and tried a referral that we got that same day. We gave him a Book of Mormon and set up an appointment for the next day. We tried some less actives and investigators. Then we went and saw Cheryl. :)
TUESDAY: We tried lots of peeps...lots of potentials from other missionaries that didn't exist anymore...so that was fun. We went back to try that referral from Monday, and he didn't show. :( We ate dinner with Sister Markworth and her son. :)
WEDNESDAY: We tried MORE peeps in Cross Lanes. We met with Barbara and Joanne. Joanne LOVES the Book or Mormon and the concept of eternal families, but it's gonna be hard to put her on date because of her mom...she's very baptist and loves to sit in our lessons. So this is gonna be interesting. :) I'm excited!

THURSDAY: We weekly planned. Yay. Then we went out.... BUT WE HAD A CRAZY MOMENT. So we went to this government housing place but we just felt like we needed to leave. So I was driving (AGAIN, I AM ALWAYS DRIVING lol), Sister Jefferies was backing me, and suddenly she stopped me. A black Audi pulled up RIGHT NEXT TO US on the passenger side, so we backed real quickly and she hopped in the car. I pulled away, then then pulled away....we drove to the main road and they were still behind us! (this doesnt sound too crazy, but it was!) When all the sudden, we heard yelling, I looked in my side mirror just in time to see the black audi take off to the left of us INTO TRAFFIC while they have a man running after them yelling "Thats my car!!!" So we are watching them go up and down the hills of West Virginia when a cop pulls out of nowhere! THERE'S A HIGH SPEED CHASE IN CROSS LANES. So this other guy comes up to our car (we are still sitting at this stop sign cause of traffic) and tells us all about how that car has been missing for a week and that the guy probably wasn't getting his car back. So we were like Oh thanks for telling us that. So we started driving in the same direction as the black audi, talking about how crazy it was when we saw cops lights again, this time they were stopped. The black audi had turned and crashed into a random brick wall that west virginia has and the cops had the two guys in handcuffs sitting on the ground and on top of the hood of the car. IT WAS CRAZY. Sister Jefferies just kept saying "we started that! they followed us!" lol. We then ate dinner with Sister Pierce, and we taught Jonathan!! We had a super killer lesson, and we took the Tooleys with us. We taught about the rich young ruler and how sometimes that can be us, we were really bold and straight up with him as we talked about his commitment keeping. Twas a way good lesson.
FRIDAY: MY EIGHTEENTH CLICK DAY. #what. We had district meeting. The sisters talked about our mission vision and what we wanted to become. And because the Tooleys had come with us to our lesson, they went on and on about how awesome we were and eventually....well I guess you'll have to look in my pictures. ;) We then went ON MY LAST EXCHANGE. I was with Sister Paulson in South Charleston. It was the best exchange ever. <3 It made my heart so happy to be in my old area. To see my peeps. We saw Sister New, Nathan and Felicia (for a sec), Sister Payne, Sister Minnich, Sister Deborah Jones, and we also saw Cheryl. :) We ate at Olive Garden as all four of us, because it was mine and Sister Stettlers 18th click day and we got to celebrate together! THEN a nonmember paid for OUR WHOLE MEAL because she had a member friend. YAY! :)
SATURDAY: We ended exchanges. We went to the Suttles family christmas party for dinner. Then we had Daizy's baptism!! :) It was actually really rough but it was really good because she had tons of nonmember family come!
SUNDAY: CHRISTMAS EVE! :) We went to church at Teays Valley. We got to sing in the program with the primary kids. We also spent time with Cheryl playing are you smarter than a fifth grader....evidently none of us were smarter than fifth graders. lol. We went to the Ruffells (like my FAVORITE family in Teays Valley. And we went to the morgans in the second ward! It was really fun! We got to roast smores and had a good dinner with them and their kids. Their two kids took us out to go tour the lights as they took us home, it was AMAZING.
MONDAY: CHRISTMASSSS!!! <3 We went and hung out at the Haupts. It was fun and chill, exactly what I needed. We went to the Schaefers for dinner, we had hawaiian haystacks. :) we played Clue for a little bit, then we skyped home. :)
I LOVE MY FAMILY. Whenever I skype home it just makes me more excited to work. It reminds me of how much I love my family and want to be with them forever, and how much I truly want that for others. That is why I'm on a mission. For the Lord and for them.
It was definitely weird to end the call by saying...See ya in three weeks though. Lol. :)
Thank you for all the love and support. What a mile marker for me. EIGHTEEN MONTHS DOWN. What a blessing. What an adventure. What a time to be alive.
I LOVE YOU ALL TO THE MOON AND BACK.
