WHATTTTSS UPPP?

So my week was FANTASTIC.

Wednesday: We went to a members to dinner. Wow. I love West Virginia. You never whats gonna happen to you. We looked them up on the roster, plugged it into the gps and then drove. Mind you, I AM DRIVING AGAIN (this legit always happens to me). We start going and we take it down to the spot and it is definitely not the members home, so we call them they give us another address was across our area. we made it about half an hour late and then we get there and the husband tells us all about how much he loves wolves, they give us a tour of their house, and then they feed us SO MUCH FOOD. I thought i was gonna die. Anyways, we had a good time, shared a really spiritual message about Christ, then we left. Good times. It was the last night with the new sisters too.

Thursday: While we were waiting for the new sisters to be picked up, the sisters were asking all sorts of questions and I just realized how lucky I am to be a missionary, to have served in the places I have, and to have had the many experiences I have. I love it SO much. We weekly planned. #wahoo. The departing missionaries came this day too, so I got to see Sister Hanna Huntington. She is adorable. She's officially home and ready for the new adventures she has in front of her! #loveher

Friday: We sent the departing missionaries off and then set off to work. The weather had another thing planned. IT RAINED HARDCORE. We got drenched like all day. So that was awesome. Also, President Lindhardt sent out a text to the mission leaders asking us to prepare stuff for Zone Conference that was in like 5 days, so we were stresssseeeeeddd. We picked up a new investigator named Stacy! She has like no religious background but she wants to learn, she is awesome!!

Saturday: We planned for Zone Conference. Kinda a boring day because Sister Sorenson got sick. But we have an amazing teaching segment planned so im pumped! #compunityiskillinit

Sunday: Basically the weirdest Sunday I've had on my mission yet. Everyone was like crazy. The elders were trying to catch flies in the church, the assistants were grumpy as ever, the ward was like super crazy, our investigators didn't come, and some guy came to talk to us about Autism (which was good, just really weird for a church setting). Then we stayed home some more, cause sister Sorenson was sick. Then we went and picked up another new investigator named Cindy, shes super open and is going to read the Book of Mormon! She is awesome!

Then today, we just cleaned the car, the house and stuff after the week long slumber party we had. #crazystllife

Sister Sorenson has been making me take some nasty vitamins. #shejustwantsmetobehealthy

ANDD Sister Mullins, a less active, came to church BY HERSELF.

I accidentally cut Sister Sorenson with my ring when I gave her a fist bump. #sorrycompanion

I LOVE YOU ALL TO THE MOON AND BACK!

heyyyyy everyone!!!

Another killer week in the books. Let's start with transfer doctrine. I'm staying in Charleston with Sister Sorenson for six more weeks! :) Super pumped about that. I just love her and I LOVE Charleston. For the sisters in the zone...Sister Jarman is training a new sister, Sister Thor is staying in Cross Lanes and she is training a new sister, and Sister Condie is doubling into Teays Valley and is training a new sister! And my MTC companion? Sister Stettler. She's basically the best and she's going to be doubling into a place named Vinton (in the Roanoke zone) and she'll be training a new sister as well! The sisters I came out with are SO AMAZING and I look up to each of them so much.

My week:

Tuesday: We went on exchanges with Cross Lanes. I was with Sister Thorsteinson this time! :) she is absolutely adorable! I LOVE HER. We had an amazing exchange and I learned a lot from her and we saw so many miracles happen. We got to do some service for one of their investigators. She was moving and so we helped her move some things around. We moved one of her dressers and the drawers werent going back in. So that was great. It took us like twenty minutes but we figured it out! Well... Sister Thor did! :) It was a really cool exchange for me to be on with her, to be able to share some things that have impacted me a lot and to have the spirit guide me so much during that exchange. It was truly an exchange I will ALWAYS remember.

Wednesday: We ended exchanges, had district meeting, and saw some investigators and recent converts namely; Sister Payne, Brother Cupit, the Mouls, and Sister Jarvis.

Thursday: We got to do some service for a recent convert, Sarah Morgan, and her dad. We went into their basement and basically threw everything away. IT WAS AWESOME. I had so much fun. We weekly planned, and then went to Stake Coordination. We had dinner at the Atkinsons and then we saw Sister New. It was a good day!!

Friday: We did some finding but we also wanted to get to know our area better, so we decided to go down this one road that we'd never been down. Well, West Virginia roads dont really let you turn around so we just decided to keep going till we got to a good spot to turn around, it took a while. So that was really fun. we decided to pull off at a place we could and knock the one house around. No one answered. :(

Saturday: THIRTEEN MONTHS. Can you EVEN believe that i have been out thirteen months? Do you know how LONG THAT IS?!?! I'm in shock. Everyone needs to start praying that it goes slower these next few months. That would be mucho appreciated. When the zone leaders; Elder Baggett and Elder Watkins called to give us transfer doctrine, they told Sister Sorenson to give the phone to me because she's been known to throw the phone. That was funny. :)

Sunday: We went to church. The zone leaders signed up all the missionaries to sing in church this next sunday so props to them. We met this guy that was Muslim that tried to tell us we didn't know what we believed. So we are going back to see him Saturday. It's gonna be fun. :)

WE SAW AN ALBINO DEER AND AN AUTUMN STREET SIGN. BEST DAY EVER.

Monday: We had our last district meeting with Elder Moser. he is going home so he made a book called "All my companions are dead" So his companion, Elder Krebs, read it to us while he laid on the floor in a dead position. This was a VERY exciting district meeting. We got ready for the sisters to come in this day. We cleaned the house, made some beds, it was altogether very exciting. I never imagined one of my jobs as a missionary would be to make beds. it was great. Sister sorenson was making one of the top bunks and she like did the downward dog over the bed just to make it, i got a pretty good laugh out of it. OHH. ANd you know that squirrel thats been living with us? they finally got someone to come and get it our of our house. #hallelujah

Tuesday: So Elder Schoemig flew out to Seattle! IM SO PROUD OF HIM. I'll include a pic of him. He's like the cutest missionary ever but im not bias or anything. We walked a lot in the sun and it reminded me of the burg a lot and oh how I actually miss being a walk missionary. I never thought I'd say that but I really do. There's something about being a walk missionary that is just so cool. The new sisters came in last night! That was quite an adventure. President Lindhardt, being new, brought them to us really late. They got to us at ten last night and man it was an adventure. :) I was so stressed out that I got a major headache. We texted the assistants and told them "uh... a little late...." and all they texted back was "oops" Nice job assistants. Nice job. Jk, ill cut them some slack. We are all still learning.

We woke them up this morning and they asked me who the boy was up on the wall and I told them it was my little brother and that he got to the Washington Seattle mission just yesteday and Sister Harris was like Wait? is he speaking ASL and i said yup! She told me that she met him! While she was at the travel office she met him and that he told her to look out for me, that i was loving it in West Virginia, and that I was an STL and to tell me that he loved me. She was like he really does love you a lot. <3 She made my day. We went to the museum today. :) pretty fun then we got stuck in traffic because a semi got turned over, that was REAL FUN.

I've almost run over two dogs this week. These random west virginia dogs need to get out of the road!!

Well, I LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK!!!
Love, Sister Schoemig

One year in West Virginia mission pictures July 17, 2017

The Legend. Big Booty Judy.

I'm starting this letter off with a story. About the legend of Big Booty Judy. The minivan of the West Virginia Charleston mission.

On Friday July 14th, we had the mission tour in Charleston. The missionaries met President Lindhardt. (Me and him are best buds so I was basically like Sup Pres. See you at church sunday?) Us, the zone leaders, the assistants and the cowen elders were outside decorating their car when the assistants decided to talk to us. Bad idea. Never talk to the assistants. They always ask you to do stuff. We had a brand new Chevy Malibu and they asked us to give it up. Being who I am, i said no. Haha! SOOOOO they had to barter with me. The elders had a minivan for the mission tour that originally is from Morgantown, West Virginia. I've heard so many stories about this minivan. Legend missionaries have driven this van. So they told me we could take Big Booty Judy for the day if they could take our brand new car. I gave in. It's BIG BOOTY JUDY for heavens sake. So saturday morning at 8, we met the elders at the mission office and we gave up Francesco (the malibu). I drove her around for the day, had the time of MY LIFE, and even got an aggressive driving from the tiwi. (its a device that monitors speed and all sorts of stuff) Twas great. #noregrets #eventhoughsissorensonhatedit #sorrycompanion THHHENENNN at 8:30 pm that same day we met them back at the mission office and they gave us a 2014 subaru legacy. This car is #old in missionary years. So we are enjoying it. A lot. (Can you hear the sarcasm in my voice?) Anyways, moral of the story, never give your car to the assistants!

Well TBH, this week has been a killer. In lots of ways.

We went on exchanges with the Cross Lanes. Sister Condie and Sister Thorsteinson. I was with Sister Condie (I came out to the mission with her) here in Charleston! Well, to sum up the exchange, we got lost a couple times. (im still learning), we found a turtle, named it Larry, and then Sister Condie dropped him, we talked about Blacksburg a lot (because she took my spot there), and we talked about when we came into the mission and how we had changed. (It was one year ago that we were sitting in the same house as brand new missionaries) It truly was an amazing exchange and I loved it! I love getting to share the things I've learned and trying to help other missionaries. ITS SO FUN.

Yesterday we saw a deer by our house and we took the classic bridge picture. #swagstls

We have this one less active, Sarah Morgan, that has committed herself to stop smoking and we've been trying to come up with ways to help her. She says all it really is is for the hand to mouth motion. And lately, because of how much stress me and sister sorenson have been under, we've been blowing A LOT of bubbles in our free time, so we told her to start blowing bubbles instead of smoking. She loved the idea! Hopefully she actually does it!!

There are these weird trees here that grow really BIG GREEN BEANS. (okay, they arent actually green beans but I'm basically in love with them because they are HILARIOUS. I even asked one of  the office missionaries about them.

So weekly planning is my absolute favorite, as you all know. Well, the other day, I got sick of having to sit on the hard chairs for a long time, so i moved half the couch into the kitchen. Sister Sorenson is basically the best and she let me do it! So now we have half a couch in our kitchen and half a couch in our living room. #classicsisterschoemove

So yesterday, we asked President Lindhardt to come and give us blessings, it was just a really stressful week and so he and Sister Lindhardt came to our house, he probably thought our couch in the living room was super weird but oh well, and we got blessings. Truly amazing, he is my mission president and the Lord told me what I TRULY needed to know through that blessing. He told me to follow the promptings of the spirit and pretty soon they will become a lot stronger and that through that I will be an effective missionary. He told me my leadership in this zone is needed and that I will bless this zone. So i got some work to do here but I am PUMPED.

We had 2 amazing lessons with Nathan and Felicia Moul! We taught them the Word of Wisdom and they totally accepted. We were flabbergasted. AND THEN we read the book of mormon with them and talked about getting answers. We read 1 Nephi 2 and talked about how the Lord asked that family to leave all that they knew and were comfortable with to go to the desert and go through a lot of hard change. But the Lord promises them if they just stick to it and do what he's asked them to that he was going to lead them to a land that is beyond what they could imagine. THE PROMISED LAND. Let's remember he does that with us. He asks us to leave what we are comfortable with to go and do something hard, but the blessings that come after AMAZING. Let's stick to it my family and friends because THE LORD WILL BLESS YOU. You have his promise. I know you do.

I LOVE YOU ALL TO THE MOON AND BACK!!!

When I Get Where I'm Going

I am not very good with how to download the song that she sent to me but here is the lyrics and the youtube to the song she was referring to in her email/blog.  Heather

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYHT-TF4KO4

When I get where I'm going

When I get where I'm going
On the far side of the sky
The first thing that I'm gonna do
Is spread my wings and fly
I'm gonna land beside a lion
And run my fingers through his mane
Or I might find out what it's like
To ride a drop of rain
Yeah, when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah, when I get where I'm going
Don't cry for me down here
I'm gonna walk with my grandaddy
And he'll match me step for step
And I'll tell him how I missed him
Every minute since he left
Then I'll hug his neck
Yeah, when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah, when I get where I'm going
Don't cry for me down here
So much pain and so much darkness
In this world we stumble through
All these questions I can't answer
So much work to do
But when I get where I'm going
And I see my Maker's face
I'll stand forever in the light
Of His amazing grace
Yeah when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
Hallelujah
I will love and have no fear
When I get where I'm going
Yeah, when I get where I'm going

When I Get Where I'm Going

HELLO!

This past week has been a killer one. So many laughs. So many people I love. So many good things.

Tuesday: The fourth of JULLLYYYy! (Can you believe its July again??) We went and got balloons for our investigators and less actives, and we went around and gave them out. Then we went and saw Brother Gordon Cupit, hes a recent convert. (We had called him Monday to check and see if it was okay if we come over on tuesday and he was like "don't you know its a vacation day?' we were like Brother Cupit! Please let us come over!! haha!) We grabbed a diet pepsi for brother cupit and then went to President Lindhardts house to pick up one of his daughters for his lesson. We drove up to their house, I had a pleasant surprise and I got to see some of my good missionary friends that i hadn't seen in a while, we picked up his daughter and we were off to brother cupits!  We got to brother cupits and we told him that we had a present for him and he just started laughing! We gave him his diet pepsi and his balloon and that basically made his life. He has this super old bible from his mom or something and he let me look through it. He is the coolest guy EVER. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. During another lesson we had, the fire alarm started going off, that was fun. haha!

We had dinner with the greenwoods. They are a super adorable, amazing missionary family. We had hamburgers and potato salad. It reminded me of home. It was good. :)

Wednesday: MISSION LEADERSHIP COUNCIL!! AHH! How I love my meetings. haha. It was so different not having to get up super early to drive up to Charleston. But man. I LOVED IT. President Lindhardt is a man called of god, to serve this mission. I know that. He is super different than President Salisbury, but he is exactly what this mission needs. He was like cracking jokes while still remaining serious. He is awesome. He made me really think and feel that I could be a real person while still being a missionary. I needed a gentle reminder of that. I don't have to be perfect, especially now that I'm in Charleston, I just need to be me; an obedient preach my gospel, missionary handbook missionary. Plus I got to see the "dream team" Sister Rogers, Elder Ladue and Elder Stoneberg. I LOVE THEM ALL!

We ended up seeing Kayla Gordon, a recent convert here, shes so cool! If only her little girl wouldn't attack me while I was teaching, haha! We taught the Nathan and Felicia Moul, the law of chastity, that was an interesting lesson. They understood it, they are just really crazy humans! I love them! We had an amazing comp study that day, me and Sister Sorenson really got on the same page that day and the spirit was so strong. She is such an amazing companion. I am learning so much from her about teaching to needs and following the spirit. She is awesome. :)

Thursday: We went to try to find this new move in so we could introduce ourselves and welcome them. Turns out, its an abandoned house and no one lives there. Haha, that is West Virginia for y'all. People tell us all the time not to knock on certain houses because no one lives there. haha! We also helped this old less active clean her house so they could put new carpet in, shes a bit of a hoarder, so i was throwing things away and she was getting mad at me because apparently she needed everything, she made me just hold the trash bag while Sister Sorenson threw stuff away. Thanks mom for teaching me how to be clean! ;)

Friday: District meeting. And Dinner with the Whites. They made mac and cheese. So good! I love them so much already!

Saturday: We hadn't found any new all week, despite our hours of finding. We had a late night miracle. We tried this potential and she ended up not being home, so we decided to stay in the area and not even two houses later. We met Anne Marie. She is agnostic, but she has known mormons in the past. They had an impact on her and we taught her a little of the restoration and she wants us to come back. She is super awesome and I can't wait to see her again! Now you all know my fear of dogs, Well West Virginia is FULL of dogs, we kept walking down this street and this HUGE dog was standing in the street with its blood shot eyes. Sister Sorenson was like Just say a prayer. I said a quick little prayer and the dog paid no attention to us! Truly a miracle. Then the next door we knocked on, we gave the guy a Book of Mormon and he winked at me. Like NO.

Sunday: CHURCH DAY. I got to really get to know the Lindhardts and a lot of the ward members! IT was a really good Sabbath! Plus Nathan and Felicia came so #YES! We taught the Mouls a super bomb lesson on the spirit and they are both so committed to finding an answer for themselves. They are truly amazing. <3 #soblessedtobehere

I know that the Lord lives. That he loves us. He's beckoning us to come home. To keep his commandments and to love him, because he loves us. I know the book of Mormon to be true. I know The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to be the Lords one and only kingdom on this earth. This is my pure and simple testimony. I am such a blessed soul to be serving as a representative of Jesus Christ, to be in the West Virginia Charleston Mission, to be serving in (the one and only) Charleston, and to be serving with Sister Sorenson, to have the amazing family I do, and to be a loved daughter of God.

My email title has to do with the fact that this week, I officially have six months left. And this song that i've been obsessed with this past week. Im sending it home.

I LOVE YOU ALL TO THE MOON AND BACK!!
