She forgot to sent pictures in a different format so I only got one picture.  One picture is better then none.  :)

Blanco the Second and Sausage Fingers

Happy 11th Click day to me! :)))

So Mission Leadership Council was straight up crazy. We thought it would be a normal day, but NOPE. Story time. We woke up Tuesday morning at 4:20, and drove to Christiansburg to pick up the sisters there. We were on the way to Charleston when we got a text from President Salisbury telling us that there was a major crash in Beckley, WV and that we needed to follow his instructions carefully. Unluckily I was the one driving, and anyone who knows me knows that I follow the GPS and I am terrible at directions. So here we are on the highway, driving along, I am praying in my heart for some guidance, and to calm my nerves. When we see a van of Elders going to the same meeting we are. We decide to follow. I learned a new lesson that day. NEVER FOLLOW ELDERS. We are following them, when 1) they decide that it would be a good idea to tract one house (it was anticlimatic, they were trying to stall so they could figure out where we were going, and no one answered the door), 2) we didnt take the right turn so we got stuck in WV traffic anyways and had to backtrack an hour to get back to the way President told us to go, 3) we were two hours late to MLC (but president, being the kind human he is, said it was okay.) what was supposed to be a six hour car ride altogether took 10 hours. haha. But MLC was so good. :) I got all the Elders that came out with me to take a picture with me, that was fun. :) We got our new car! It had 60 miles on it when we got it! ;) its a brand new 2017 Toyota Corolla. Positively THE nicest car i've ever been in and driven. I think I'm in love. <3 we drove home and went to bed ASAP. We named HER Blanco the Second. (I know, we are very original)

Wednesday, my little bro graduated elementary school and he got the Hope Of America! congrats Car Car! Love you buddy!

We had a lesson with a less active YSA named Erica Quick. The missionaries found her while eating at a resturant! She is super cool. She knows who she is and has a testimony but she lets the natural man in her overtake her choices. But she wants to be married in the temple and wants to raise her future kids in the gospel! We had the other YSA sisters with us at this lesson, but I really learned here how much I love teaching people. :) I LOVE IT. I LOVE IT. I LOVE IT. When people are ready to receive us and we are bold on helping them to repent, there is nothing like it, I love it.

We saw our investigator Craig, he has a lot of good questions about the gospel and how we came to know. :) He is a firefighter that is not working right now because he fell 30 feet while he was working one day! He has so many dr appointments, its crazy. He is on date for July 22nd. Hopefully we can see him more frequently so we can get him to make that covenant!

We had a lesson with Sister Bell too. :) we taught the restoration but asked her a lot of questions during it so we could see how she was doing with it all. She is so awesome. She loves the Book of Mormon and she is so excited to go to the DC temple THIS SATURDAY! Shes going to do baptisms and I am so pumped for her!! We had coordination, always a party.

Thursday, CHANDLER GRADUATED! #classof2017 Congrats Chandler! Wish I could've been there, but I'm glad you had fun! :)

We weekly planned. Sometimes it just takes SO LONG to weekly plan but it was good! We picked up a new investigator named Jackie, we ate with the Schwendimans, and had YSA coordination. :)

Friday, we had district meeting. OHHHH! Never talk about things you are scared of. I am afraid of dinosaurs and aliens, for many people who dont know. We were doing this role play where we are companions with any missionary in the district and we were practicing How To Begin Teaching points. I was with Elder Miller teaching Elder Younger and we almost got started when it got brought up that I don't like dinosaurs and aliens, when the lights start flickering and the power goes out! Nevertheless, district meeting went on.

We had a lesson with a less active; Charity Harmon. We are trying to get her to stay for Relief Society. She doesn't like it. We brought it up and she got really defensive and saying that she didn't need people judging her. Sister Rogers told her that our job is to say the hard stuff. And I told her that our purpose is not to judge people but to help them and that if she wanted our help, she needed to really listen to us and do what we ask of her. She is super awesome though, and I love her!

Saturday, nothing exciting happened. Except we picked up two new investigators. Aalyiah and Lateefah. :) Sister Rogers knocked on this door, and the broken glass fell out...

Sunday, we went to all of YSA church! There was a group of bikers there! Its a group of five, that decided they wanted to bike across the country! One of them is a nonmember and the other four have been teaching him about the church, each morning, before they start off. Now that's what I call member missionary work! :) They are super awesome! Go follow them on Insta! @bikeacrossamerica2017

We went to the rest of the Roanoke ward as well, and we picked up a new investigator named John Smith! He is 53 years old and is in an assisted living center. He fell off a bridge and broke his ankles and his back. We met him while we were sitting at a restaurant waiting for the member to show up. The member we took with us is a little crazy, but the spirit kept telling me not to worry about what she said, but to take it in stride because he liked what he was learning. :)

We went on a five mile hike yesterday with Sister Bell! It was way fun!

Remember to read your Book of Mormon! It'll help with everything. I promise.

I LOVE YOU ALL TO THE MOON AND BACK!

Virginia pictures May 22nd, 2017

Virginia Is For Sister Schoemig

Sup y'all.

We had an AMAZING week. I cannot wait to tell you about it.

Monday was p-day. I tried on cool hats, fake glasses, and I took a well needed nap. We saw Sister Theresa Bell and talked about the Restoration. She has grown so much. I've never seen a person change quite like her. We got some chocolate covered pretzals from the Ritters, members in the ward. We went to bed.

Tuesday was exchanges with Salem.Sister Brimhall was with me in good ol' Roanoke. :) It was a really good exchange! She is just awesome. She is so outgoing and she loves to talk to people! She was talking to people faster than I was, which was awesome, normally I get to people pretty quick! She wanted to focus on teaching people, not lessons. We both learned a lot from this, as opportunities kept coming to us, of how to teach doctrine to specific people. It was awesome! We had someone "try" to bash us. He was a young adult that we tracted into. He tried to tell us that we were wrong. *the whole time I was trying not to let my sass out* I told him that he needed to read the Book of Mormon with a sincere heart, I gave him our number and told him that when he really wants to know, he can call us.

Wednesday I got yelled at by a bus driver. #bestdayever. I was driving back home for lunch and sister rogers decided to call someone and it was on bluetooth plus the speaker is on my side of the car, when I saw a bus driver last minute and slowed down kinda quickly when at the same moment the guy we were calling decided to answer so I started talking to him. THEN the bus driver waves me forward so I pull forward to talk to her, WHILE STILL TALKING TO THE GUY ON THE PHONE, when she tells me "I saw you. I saw you call me the B word." Now if you can imagine the shock on my face, imagine it with ten times more shock. Basically I told her no, Im talking on the phone to someone. I wasnt talking to you. And she was really angry and then waved me forward all sassily. Lets just say me and that bus driver were not friends, but I think she was just having a bad day and she decided to take it out on me. Its okay. I am learning to forgive. Anyways we had one last lesson with Sister Bell before her baptism, we did family history at the church, she figured it all out in like the first ten minutes. She is awesome. Thats all. *if you don't like gross things, tune out now* my wart tore off and started bleeding a lot, luckily I had Nurse Sister Rogers to take care of me.

Thursday, we weekly planned like ALL DAY. At least it felt like that. We saw a less active family, the Sigmons, they are cool. We taught them the restoration and the spirit was hardcore guiding me and Sister Rogers. That was the best restoration we've ever taught.  We also had YSA coordination that night. I LOVE THE YSA. <3 <3 it will forever be my home. It's where I am most comfortable but most pushed.

Friday was district meeting, which was actually pretty good this time! We went to a members mom's viewing. Not much happened friday

Saturday. Roanoke is so cool. If you put in the work and the effort, you will see miracles. Saturday morning we woke up, dead tired. But we were gonna work no matter what! We weren't seeing much that morning but after lunch we both got the prompting to change our plans and go to a different area to work, that we don't get out to much. Which was the best decision we've ever made. We went and tried an investigator who lives with her less active grandmother; they weren't home, we tried another less active couple in the area; they were home and with our bold and short lesson we figured out why they weren't coming to church, we tried another less active family; and their neighbor told us that they moved out a while ago (and none of us knew), we contacted a media referral; she took the Bible and told us to come back, (as STL's we call new missionaries to welcome them to the mission, the one we had to call hadn't answered us as of yet) and the new missionary we were supposed to call called us back! And then to top it all off, WE HAD A BAPTISM! When I got to Roanoke, I committed myself to have a baptism in each area. I am so happy that I got to be here to see Sister Theresa Bell get baptized. It was so special. Each time I see someone I love get baptized, I feel the spirit so strong. There is absolutely nothing like it in the whole world. I am so so so grateful for the gospel, for the blessings I receive from it, for my Savior, for my mission, for my family, MY HEART IS SO FULL. I LOVE VIRGINIA. (i got a new shirt today that has virginia on it with a heart and it says home :) )

Sunday we were running like the whole day. We went to the YSA ward sacrament, then to Roanoke sacrament to see Theresa be confirmed, then back to the YSA for a munch and mingle, then back to Roanoke for Relief Society. It was insane. But another thing about Theresa. She signed up to to on the temple trip on June 3rd and she went and talked to the primary about being baptized. She never would've done that before. She has changed so much! We went to dinner at her house as well and we started teaching her husband! #tryingtobaptizefamilies :) she actually was one step ahead of us and she had slipped a Book of Mormon in his back earlier that morning. SHE IS AWESOME.

So basically to sum up our week. We found 6 new investigators, 3 are on date to be baptized, 1 was at church (we are working on this one) and we had one be baptized and confirmed. Missionary work is awesome!

What we have coming up this week is Mission Leadership Council (so im driving up to charleston est Virginia tomorrow), Blanco (our car) is being taken from us so we are either getting a new Rav4 or a Chevy Malibu (im really sad, I love Blanco), Carson is graduating Elementary school! (congrats Car Car!!! <3), Chandler is graduating HIGH SCHOOL! (whoot whoot! What a stud. I'll be with you in spirit!!! I LOVE YOU CHANDLER!) What a big week! Im super excited for the week ahead! :)

I LOVE Y'ALL TO THE MOON AND BACK!

Hold Up, Is That A Squirrel?

HOLA MI FAMILIA.

Let's start off by saying it was SO good to talk to y'all. If you don't already know, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. To have already made it to my second skype call BLOWS MY MIND. Me and Sister Rogers were talking yesterday about how crazy it is that we only talk to our moms and familys for two hours out of the whole year. Who does that? haha. But you know what, I do it because I know this gospel is true.

Highlights from skyping (for everyone who wasn't there):

-All my brothers are living GIANTS (not really, but boy have they grown since ive been gone!)
-Naomi tried to show me ALL of her toys!!
-We got special permission for Chandler to be ordained to an elder while I was on skype! :)))
-I got to talk to my little bro, before he goes on the greatest adventure of his life, for the last time...
-Lexie Loo Loo told me about her two new bunnies!!
-Kenny and Jess told me about their new house, which I am SO EXCITED to visit!
-Manda and Codie told me about their new house too and it sounds absolutely amazing, and I CANT WAIT to visit!!
-my mom got my flowers and card :) LOVE YOU MOM
-My grandpa thinks I'm hilarious #yesss
-I got to talk to my papi
-Dakota and Carson got to tell me whats going on in their lives and I am just so proud of them!
-Family prayer. I HAVE THE BEST FAMILY EVER
-My family loved my long hair! (not that its really that long, its just longer than when they last saw me)

Anyways, to my week.

We had exchanges with the Martinsville Sisters on Tuesday to Wednesday. I was with Sister Rosengren. She is new to the zone. She has been out 6 months. She asked a lot of questions about the work, and we went to another YSA coordination and I was sharing some of the things I learned from Blacksburg and how we could use some of those to help Roanoke and she was like WOW! You know so much! Best exchange ever! Which made me feel really good because we had THREE appointments and every back up fall through on us and I was scrambling a little bit. But it was a really fun exchange!

We had zone conference on Wednesday and we taught for 45 minutes! We started out really well, then we got to our role play. We explained it a little weird, but THANKFULLY President knew what we were trying to accomplish and he helped us! It ended up being really good and President loved our portion of it, he used things we talked about in the rest of the meeting! It was awesome!! I learned so much at zone conference and I committed myself to be EVEN BETTER. Now that I'm at the stage I am, its time to push myself and do things I couldn't even imagine before! We had stake coordination that night and ward coordination so it was a day full of meetings but it was really good!

I got a free Dr. Pepper this week. :)

The rest of the week was good, but we did our normal missionary work, nothing too exciting!

BUT...STORY TIME:
We had dinner with our Bishop and his wife and the elders this past week (I was on exchanges with Sister Rosengren) . While we were at dinner, the Bishop and his wife were doing something and the elders leaned over to me and said something about a squirrel that I missed, I figured I'd just hear about it later so I let it slide. We left dinner and I walked past the Elders car, and then I walked back. THERE WAS A SQUIRREL sitting in their car! I turned around with my eyes wide and my mouth open, when the Elders just started laughing! They told us, and showed us the process of them picking up the roadkill squirrel, skinning it, marinating and crock potting the squirrel, drying the squirrel skin, stuffing, and taking it around with them. It's name is Starkey Obadiah Stalarg (the last name is a combo of both of their names). He attends all of our meetings.  #bless  Now I KNOW, I am in the South.

We went to YSA church and Family ward church yesterday. I kinda actually really love going to two churches a lot, it's really fun! I gave a talk about my mama yesterday, but I combined it from the talk The Music Of The Gospel by Elder Anderson. I got lots of compliments on how I combined motherhood and that talk perfectly together and how what I said was exactly what they needed. I am so grateful for the spirit guiding me to change my talk last minute. I know this gospel to be true and I am so happy to be out sharing it each and every day!

I LOVE ROANOKE. I am so blessed to be here and to be a full time representative of the Lord. The next seven months will be the best seven months. I am ready for whats ahead and I can't wait to see what it will bring.

I LOVE YOU ALL TO THE MOON AND BACK. ðŸŒœ

Crazy times! Pictures May 8, 2017

Throwin' it Back

If you thought nothing could happen in these past four days, YOU WERE WRONG.

I don't even know where to start with the insane week we had. But I would like to say, TO MY SNOW COLLEGE FRIENDS YOU BETTER READ THIS ONE TO THE END!! ;)

Thursday: We got up at 5:20 in the morning to go to transfers, I said goodbye to my babies, Sister Cook and Sister Zaugg. (At this point in their mission, I was the Sister Training Leader that's been with them the whole time) I was really sad to see them go because they grow up so fast, but I was so excited for these new adventures they will be going on!) We spent the day as a trio with Sister Rodabough, I LOVED IT. We went to the dentist with her because she had a cavity, we saw how they fill a cavity, that was pretty legit. She is the cutest thing ever, we went back to pick up her companion at 5, when guess who I saw?! SISTER STETTLER. I love that Sister so much. It was good to catch up for a few seconds and take a picture. (WARNING: I look really grown up in that picture, it freaks me out A LOT)

Friday: We got up, had district meeting and went to our very first YSA coordination with our brand new Ward Mission Leader; Brother Wells. Haha, we get there, introduce ourselves and he asks where we are from, you know all that jazz, we ask him where he served his mission, he says the Utah St. George mission, we ask where in that mission, he says St. George, Mount Pleasant, Ephraim. I stopped him in his tracks there, and I told him that that was where I went to school. (Back Story: I went to Snow College for a year before my mission, while I was there we introduced my japanese roommate to the missionaries and they taught her a few lessons.) He asked when I was there and I told him from the fall of 2015 to the spring of 2016. He was speechless. After he got his bearings together, he said I spent 7 and 1/2 months at Snow College and that's when I was there! I was like NO WAY. Because when I was there, I had a friend take the discussions, and I was there for all the lessons. Do you know Mami? He said that he taught Mami when he was there!! Long story short. I met Brother Wells when he was a missionary in Ephraim Utah, and what are the chances that he, is now my YSA ward mission leader. #thesmallmormonworld #goodoldephraimutah

The YSA sisters were having a baptism that night, so that's what we spent the majority of the time working on, we got pulled into being a chorister and a pianist. So we texted Sister Bell asking her if she would be able to make it, we wanted to make it as purposeful as possible, when she dropped everything she was doing that night to come! And that night I was talking about her baptismal program to her and asking her to start thinking of who she would want to be involved, songs to sing and such, when at the very end of the baptism she found a song she wanted to sing at her very own baptismal service! She is so excited to be baptized!! GET READY MAY 20TH! SISTER BELL IS GETTING BAPTIZED. I saw Brother Wells again, we took a picture, I met his mom because she knows ASL and apparently since I got to Roanoke she has been waiting to meet me (apparently when you know ASL words spreads REAL QUICK), she just started signing to me about how crazy it was that we knew each other before now and how shes been waiting to meet me.

Anyways, while we were at the coordination, the zone leaders started calling, they were letting us know that because of the plane crash in Charleston, West Virginia that morning, that the departing missionaries were to be flying out of Roanoke. President and Sister Salisbury, and 8 departing missionaries were on their way to Roanoke and it was our job to make sure it was all worked out. #awesome So we needed to get beds to the elders house and to the YSA house (the sisters there have recently been taken out, so there was room for the missionaries there). Brother Wells volunteered to help us out and so off we went moving beds from house to house and making beds and making sure there was food and all that fun stuff! It was probably the craziest day of my whole mission.

Saturday: We got a text from Sister Bell. She was in the emergency room. The opposition is so real. She's all good now though, home and resting. :)

Sunday: Stake Conference Broadcast from good ol' Salt Lake City, Utah. Sister Wells before it started came up to me and said Sister Schoemig, I need your help. Sister Jackson needs an interpreter. MY HEART DROPPED. I told her, Do you know that its been almost 11 months and above all you'd want my brothers doing this? She pulled me along and said Oh you'll be great! So I interpreted for Stake Conference. I was nervous as all get out but I did it! I said a quick prayer and asked for help and I started remembering signs and doing the best I could. It was actually really really fun! We had YSA ward council, when I met Brother Wells dad! I said Im Sister Schoemig and he said Oh, I've heard about you! I was like, Im sure you have!! haha. Sunday was pretty good! Our investigators have started getting back to us and we have a pretty full week this week so I AM PUMPED.

Also, funny story, we texted the assistants to the President asking them if they would be at Zone Conference this Wednesday. Just look at the pictures, we had a fun conversation with them. :)

Pretty crazy week for me. What about you? :)

I LOVE YOU ALL TO THE MOON AND BACK.

A great week pictures May 3, 2017

The Dream Team

Well, I know you are all DYING to find out what's happening with good ol' Sister Schoe. But you shall find out at the end! :)

We went to the Roanoke Star! It was raining and really fun! (Dont mind my face in the pictures, It's been a while since I've danced...)  :)

We had interviews with President this past week. He is just awesome. To put it in short, (this is before we found out my transfer doctrine) he told me that since the YSA sisters are getting doubled out he was going to be giving the Roanoke YSA to us to take care of for a while! When we finished my interview, he was walking me back to my companion and he gave me the biggest compliment a mission president could ever give. He basically told me that he could put me anywhere in the mission and he wouldn't worry about me! I can die happy now, haha! The Salisbury's go home soon. I'm really really sad to see them go but I need y'all to take care of them when they arrive back home kay? Kay.

Sister Theresa Bell. She is AWESOME. We have been working so hard to get her on date for baptism. AND IT FINALLY HAPPENED. We had basically the perfect lesson planned for her to get her on date. Sister Rogers kept telling me before we went in that I had to be the one to ask her to be baptized. I've been here with Sister Bell since the beginning so I know how she works. It turned out to be just what we all needed to happen. The spirit guided me of what to say to help her, and in the end, SHE IS ON DATE FOR MAY 20TH
Later that night, we went to the church to meet with the Zone leaders and the YSA sisters to start this transition over to us. We were talking about transfers, because me and Elder Stoneberg have served our whole missions around each other and he and Elder Ladue have been with each other for two transfers, I told them that there was no way all four of us would be staying, because we are the dream team, and what dream team has stayed together for a while? Well...the suspense continues throughout the letter. Mwahhahaha! :)

We had to get our car fixed Thursday. Geez. I hate car places. Our car is almost in retirement, but we found out we had 4 out of 5 lights out, a screw in our tire, our filters were nasty, and we needed new brake fluid. Well, that was awesome news. So we called Elder Lambert, the missions car guy, and asked him what he wanted us to get fixed before we soon say goodbye to Blanco (our car is named Blanco, because its white ðŸ˜‚). He told us to get our lights fixed and the tire. This altogether took two hours and we were late to an appointment. But the good news is we are now safe on the road. :)

News Flash: Mormon missionaries are famous. We knocked on our investigators door and met her husband. We explained who we were and what we do and he took a Book of Mormon. He told us that he's seen the commercials the church has put out and has always wanted to meet us. Haha! Imagine that! I'm famous for being a Mormon missionary! :)

Saturday, we were sent on a bit of a wild goose chase. The Elders asked us to try to find a Miranda Cosgrove, so we met all the cosgroves in the ward, surprisingly they all live in our area...and none of them knew a Miranda Cosgrove, only an Amanda Cosgrove. (btw, we caught a frog that night) We were in a part of Roanoke that had little to no cell service and we were driving home for the night and we decided to call the Elders to tell them what we knew about Miranda Cosgrove (turns out the elders messed up and we were supposed to ask about Amanda Cosgrove, #awkward), well we went out of service while we were talking to them, we called them back when we got service and they said that they were just screaming SISTERS! WHERE DID YOU GO? when we didnt respond back to them.Haha! That's what they get when they send us on a wild goose chase!

Transfer Doctrine: The Elders like to tease us. Rude. Haha, They called us exactly at 9:00 and asked if we needed anything, and when we said No, but what about transfer doctrine, they hung up on us! So Sister Rogers called them back immediately and we asked again! They told us WE ARE BOTH STAYING! :) Im staying in Roanoke, VA my friends! I'm pumped for this next transfer! They called me out though when we asked if they were both staying, they said Sister Schoemig, who said the dream team couldn't stay together? and i sheepishly said I did, i was confused on what they were going to tell us next....and they were like THATS RIGHT! We are both staying!! So the dream team is staying together! :) #roanokedreamteam

We taught a 19 year old who has a newborn and just got out of jail. She is SO prepared for the gospel!

We accidentally got caught in the middle of a race. We were walking around in this neighborhood when a whole bunch of little kids started running past us, there were a bunch of members in the race, and as they ran past us they all yelled HI SISTERS! It was really cute!!

Remember that family we are teaching, the Esperegoza's? Well, they came to church! AND LOVED IT! So i'm pretty pumped about them too!

OH!! Sister Rogers told Elder Ladue he needed to draw me a picture of Jesus for my birthday and he finally did, but he went above and beyond! He did it with a soddering(?) iron on some wood, Im sending a picture. Its AWESOME!

Let's see, what else haven't I told you? That I love you! Oh wait, I just did!

I LOVE YOU ALL TO THE MOON AND BACK!
Love, Sister Schoemig
