We had an AMAZING week. I cannot wait to tell you about it.
Monday was p-day. I tried on cool hats, fake glasses, and I took a well needed nap. We saw Sister Theresa Bell and talked about the Restoration. She has grown so much. I've never seen a person change quite like her. We got some chocolate covered pretzals from the Ritters, members in the ward. We went to bed.
Tuesday was exchanges with Salem.Sister Brimhall was with me in good ol' Roanoke. :) It was a really good exchange! She is just awesome. She is so outgoing and she loves to talk to people! She was talking to people faster than I was, which was awesome, normally I get to people pretty quick! She wanted to focus on teaching people, not lessons. We both learned a lot from this, as opportunities kept coming to us, of how to teach doctrine to specific people. It was awesome! We had someone "try" to bash us. He was a young adult that we tracted into. He tried to tell us that we were wrong. *the whole time I was trying not to let my sass out* I told him that he needed to read the Book of Mormon with a sincere heart, I gave him our number and told him that when he really wants to know, he can call us.
Wednesday I got yelled at by a bus driver. #bestdayever. I was driving back home for lunch and sister rogers decided to call someone and it was on bluetooth plus the speaker is on my side of the car, when I saw a bus driver last minute and slowed down kinda quickly when at the same moment the guy we were calling decided to answer so I started talking to him. THEN the bus driver waves me forward so I pull forward to talk to her, WHILE STILL TALKING TO THE GUY ON THE PHONE, when she tells me "I saw you. I saw you call me the B word." Now if you can imagine the shock on my face, imagine it with ten times more shock. Basically I told her no, Im talking on the phone to someone. I wasnt talking to you. And she was really angry and then waved me forward all sassily. Lets just say me and that bus driver were not friends, but I think she was just having a bad day and she decided to take it out on me. Its okay. I am learning to forgive. Anyways we had one last lesson with Sister Bell before her baptism, we did family history at the church, she figured it all out in like the first ten minutes. She is awesome. Thats all. *if you don't like gross things, tune out now* my wart tore off and started bleeding a lot, luckily I had Nurse Sister Rogers to take care of me.
Thursday, we weekly planned like ALL DAY. At least it felt like that. We saw a less active family, the Sigmons, they are cool. We taught them the restoration and the spirit was hardcore guiding me and Sister Rogers. That was the best restoration we've ever taught. We also had YSA coordination that night. I LOVE THE YSA. <3 <3 it will forever be my home. It's where I am most comfortable but most pushed.
Friday was district meeting, which was actually pretty good this time! We went to a members mom's viewing. Not much happened friday.
Saturday. Roanoke is so cool. If you put in the work and the effort, you will see miracles. Saturday morning we woke up, dead tired. But we were gonna work no matter what! We weren't seeing much that morning but after lunch we both got the prompting to change our plans and go to a different area to work, that we don't get out to much. Which was the best decision we've ever made. We went and tried an investigator who lives with her less active grandmother; they weren't home, we tried another less active couple in the area; they were home and with our bold and short lesson we figured out why they weren't coming to church, we tried another less active family; and their neighbor told us that they moved out a while ago (and none of us knew), we contacted a media referral; she took the Bible and told us to come back, (as STL's we call new missionaries to welcome them to the mission, the one we had to call hadn't answered us as of yet) and the new missionary we were supposed to call called us back! And then to top it all off, WE HAD A BAPTISM! When I got to Roanoke, I committed myself to have a baptism in each area. I am so happy that I got to be here to see Sister Theresa Bell get baptized. It was so special. Each time I see someone I love get baptized, I feel the spirit so strong. There is absolutely nothing like it in the whole world. I am so so so grateful for the gospel, for the blessings I receive from it, for my Savior, for my mission, for my family, MY HEART IS SO FULL. I LOVE VIRGINIA. (i got a new shirt today that has virginia on it with a heart and it says home :) )
Sunday we were running like the whole day. We went to the YSA ward sacrament, then to Roanoke sacrament to see Theresa be confirmed, then back to the YSA for a munch and mingle, then back to Roanoke for Relief Society. It was insane. But another thing about Theresa. She signed up to to on the temple trip on June 3rd and she went and talked to the primary about being baptized. She never would've done that before. She has changed so much! We went to dinner at her house as well and we started teaching her husband! #tryingtobaptizefamilies :) she actually was one step ahead of us and she had slipped a Book of Mormon in his back earlier that morning. SHE IS AWESOME.
So basically to sum up our week. We found 6 new investigators, 3 are on date to be baptized, 1 was at church (we are working on this one) and we had one be baptized and confirmed. Missionary work is awesome!
What we have coming up this week is Mission Leadership Council (so im driving up to charleston est Virginia tomorrow), Blanco (our car) is being taken from us so we are either getting a new Rav4 or a Chevy Malibu (im really sad, I love Blanco), Carson is graduating Elementary school! (congrats Car Car!!! <3), Chandler is graduating HIGH SCHOOL! (whoot whoot! What a stud. I'll be with you in spirit!!! I LOVE YOU CHANDLER!) What a big week! Im super excited for the week ahead! :)
I LOVE Y'ALL TO THE MOON AND BACK!
Love, Sister Schoemig
