Blanco the Second and Sausage Fingers

Happy 11th Click day to me! :)))

So Mission Leadership Council was straight up crazy. We thought it would be a normal day, but NOPE. Story time. We woke up Tuesday morning at 4:20, and drove to Christiansburg to pick up the sisters there. We were on the way to Charleston when we got a text from President Salisbury telling us that there was a major crash in Beckley, WV and that we needed to follow his instructions carefully. Unluckily I was the one driving, and anyone who knows me knows that I follow the GPS and I am terrible at directions. So here we are on the highway, driving along, I am praying in my heart for some guidance, and to calm my nerves. When we see a van of Elders going to the same meeting we are. We decide to follow. I learned a new lesson that day. NEVER FOLLOW ELDERS. We are following them, when 1) they decide that it would be a good idea to tract one house (it was anticlimatic, they were trying to stall so they could figure out where we were going, and no one answered the door), 2) we didnt take the right turn so we got stuck in WV traffic anyways and had to backtrack an hour to get back to the way President told us to go, 3) we were two hours late to MLC (but president, being the kind human he is, said it was okay.) what was supposed to be a six hour car ride altogether took 10 hours. haha. But MLC was so good. :) I got all the Elders that came out with me to take a picture with me, that was fun. :) We got our new car! It had 60 miles on it when we got it! ;) its a brand new 2017 Toyota Corolla. Positively THE nicest car i've ever been in and driven. I think I'm in love. <3 we drove home and went to bed ASAP. We named HER Blanco the Second. (I know, we are very original)

Wednesday, my little bro graduated elementary school and he got the Hope Of America! congrats Car Car! Love you buddy!

We had a lesson with a less active YSA named Erica Quick. The missionaries found her while eating at a resturant! She is super cool. She knows who she is and has a testimony but she lets the natural man in her overtake her choices. But she wants to be married in the temple and wants to raise her future kids in the gospel! We had the other YSA sisters with us at this lesson, but I really learned here how much I love teaching people. :) I LOVE IT. I LOVE IT. I LOVE IT. When people are ready to receive us and we are bold on helping them to repent, there is nothing like it, I love it.

We saw our investigator Craig, he has a lot of good questions about the gospel and how we came to know. :) He is a firefighter that is not working right now because he fell 30 feet while he was working one day! He has so many dr appointments, its crazy. He is on date for July 22nd. Hopefully we can see him more frequently so we can get him to make that covenant!

We had a lesson with Sister Bell too. :) we taught the restoration but asked her a lot of questions during it so we could see how she was doing with it all. She is so awesome. She loves the Book of Mormon and she is so excited to go to the DC temple THIS SATURDAY! Shes going to do baptisms and I am so pumped for her!! We had coordination, always a party.

Thursday, CHANDLER GRADUATED! #classof2017 Congrats Chandler! Wish I could've been there, but I'm glad you had fun! :)

We weekly planned. Sometimes it just takes SO LONG to weekly plan but it was good! We picked up a new investigator named Jackie, we ate with the Schwendimans, and had YSA coordination. :)

Friday, we had district meeting. OHHHH! Never talk about things you are scared of. I am afraid of dinosaurs and aliens, for many people who dont know. We were doing this role play where we are companions with any missionary in the district and we were practicing How To Begin Teaching points. I was with Elder Miller teaching Elder Younger and we almost got started when it got brought up that I don't like dinosaurs and aliens, when the lights start flickering and the power goes out! Nevertheless, district meeting went on.

We had a lesson with a less active; Charity Harmon. We are trying to get her to stay for Relief Society. She doesn't like it. We brought it up and she got really defensive and saying that she didn't need people judging her. Sister Rogers told her that our job is to say the hard stuff. And I told her that our purpose is not to judge people but to help them and that if she wanted our help, she needed to really listen to us and do what we ask of her. She is super awesome though, and I love her!

Saturday, nothing exciting happened. Except we picked up two new investigators. Aalyiah and Lateefah. :) Sister Rogers knocked on this door, and the broken glass fell out...

Sunday, we went to all of YSA church! There was a group of bikers there! Its a group of five, that decided they wanted to bike across the country! One of them is a nonmember and the other four have been teaching him about the church, each morning, before they start off. Now that's what I call member missionary work! :) They are super awesome! Go follow them on Insta! @bikeacrossamerica2017

We went to the rest of the Roanoke ward as well, and we picked up a new investigator named John Smith! He is 53 years old and is in an assisted living center. He fell off a bridge and broke his ankles and his back. We met him while we were sitting at a restaurant waiting for the member to show up. The member we took with us is a little crazy, but the spirit kept telling me not to worry about what she said, but to take it in stride because he liked what he was learning. :)

We went on a five mile hike yesterday with Sister Bell! It was way fun!

Remember to read your Book of Mormon! It'll help with everything. I promise.

I LOVE YOU ALL TO THE MOON AND BACK!
Love, Sister Schoemig
