Welcome to finals week. Just being here around all the stressed students makes me stressed, even though i have nothing to stress about. Its just the nature of college, I guess.
This week I am just so amazed at how investigators come out of the woodwork here. Anywhere we go, there is so many people to talk to and so many amazing opportunities to share the gospel. I always go back to the beginning when Sister Rowley and I first got here and people told us so many things about this area and what it was like, and we soon found out all of those things they told us were wrong. There are so many good people and different opportunities here! I have noticed that you can't go into an area with these preconceived ideas of what it will be like, its all about your attitude and how hard you work. That's how the area will be, it all depends on you and what you put into it. Its been an amazing opportunity to see this area grow and see these people grow and change in the gospel. I never want to leave Blacksburg.
We had our ward Christmas Party last monday and it was so fun! The students here are hilarious and they are so themselves, i love it so much! The Bishop here is a golfer and so is Sister Sackett and he has a little golf set that she got to swing and hit a few balls around downstairs and then they both wanted me to so i went and tried and man i suck, I TOTALLY MISSED THE BALL! and that, my friends, is why i dont play sports.
Kyle is on his way to be baptized. I am so excited for him! He lives in Bristoe, Virginia and his girlfriend is originally from there but her family moved out to Illinois. He wants to be baptized by her dad so he is flying out there to be baptized by him! So while me and Sister Sackett don't get to be there, that will be a very special day for us! Be thinking of Kyle of December 28th because he will be baptized that day and then become a full blown member on the 1st! :) I am so excited for him!
For Amanda: We tried on some silly hats last week and it made me think of you, keep the silly hat tradition strong! :) I LOVE YOU!
One experience for the week. On Wednesday, things really did not go the way we planned, and as a missionary that really kinda stinks. We had 45 minutes before our dinner appointment and we needed to go do something to get our minds off the bad day we had been having. And then because we were so distracted, we ended up getting on the wrong bus. Just our luck right? We were going to be late to our dinner appointment and the bus was being super slow. I decided that on the bus I needed to pray and plead with God for a miracle. Time basically stopped in that moment. I took some one on one time with my father in heaven to plead for help and a miracle. And then we stopped at a stop and the miracle ensued. (Background story: the first person i ever Invited to Learn was back with Sister Rowley and he was a college student named Dakota, I ended up talking to him because he had a Jui Jitsu sweatshirt on so i ended up talking to him about my family and how my aunt is super awesome, and he was super open and was interested to learn more but then we hadnt seen him since to talk to him more) Dakota got on right as i closed my prayer. I knew he was going to be my miracle. I felt impressed to grab a Light The World card and write our names and numbers on it again and to grab my extra Book of Mormon and highlight Moroni 10 and the promise in there. I did that and then started praying again for the right opportunity to give him it and the courage to do so. And it so happened that he got off at the stop that we needed to get off. So as he started walking away, I yelled his name and he came back to us. I asked him if he remembered me and he said he did. I told him i felt impressed that i needed to give him this book of mormon and our number and names. He told us that since he met us he wanted to read the book of mormon and that he'd give us a call when he did. It was so amazing. I started crying immediately after talking to him. God is real, he listens to our prayers, and he wants us to succeed just as much as we do. Prayer is real. My pure testimony is this. I love him, I know him. I want to live with him and I know that this is the only way to do so. The Book of Mormon is the word of God and to get to know him and our saviour, we must read it.
I love you all so much and I hope you've been getting involved with #LightTheWorld.
Learn of the Saviour this week. Believe that miracles can happen, because they do.
LOVE YOU ALL TO THE MOON AND BACK
Sister Schoemig
