I love the Charleston life. It's a very blessed life.
Our church has officially been treated for fleas, so we will be back in our building on the 8th and I AM SO EXCITED! It's been way too long since we've been in our building.
Monday: We went and played volleyball and a game called Psychatrist with the assistants and zone leaders, it was really fun! :) We went and taught Azita (a new investigator) and her mom. They are from the Ba'hai faith and so that was an interesting lesson.
Tuesday: We met up with the zone leaders and assistants to drive up to Sissonville for Mission Leadership Council. I learned so many good things! I love being a leader in this mission! There is nothing else I'd rather do! <3 I got a picture with Elder Stoneberg (one of the elders I've spent a long time around) and Elder Gallegos just jumped in the picture for fun. haha. We got to step out for a few minutes to watch Sister Payne get her patriarchal blessing. That was really special. We taught Debra about the Word of Wisdom, sorta, she cut us off because it was her sons birthday so we continued that lesson later in the week.
Wednesday: We had kinda a long day on Wednesday, nothing really worked out for us. But its okay! We still worked hard!! We FINALLY saw Sister Morgan again and she has been through the ringer with school work, she asked me to say a prayer before we left. The spirit guided me to the things I needed to say, and when I said Amen I looked up and she was crying. She needs lots of prayers.
Thursday: We saw Sister Payne.:) She is loving everything about the gospel and its awesome to see! We weekly planned. We saw Debra again, and she understood the word of wisdom and she wants to live it, so we are going to be working with her on quitting smoking and coffee! We taught Virginia Taylor, and she basically knows everything but doesn't have an answer so this will be interesting to keep working with her. We also saw Shirley again! We read from the Book of Mormon again with her, she can't read well so we are gonna help her understand what she is reading each time we go. We wanted some pizza so we went to Little Ceasers and we ended up meeting a les active that wanted us to teach him! But he lives in the assistants area, so we referred him to them.
Friday: HAPPY 13TH BIRTHDAY CARSON!!! We went back to my Wart Dr. Everyone there was like OUR UTAH FRIENDS ARE BACK! I've made some good friends there. :) The Dr took one look at my hand and was like whoa! that looks amazing, you dont need to come back! The Lord has been taking care of my hand! #blessings We went to district meeting, I taught a segment on How To Begin Teaching. I <3 teaching. It was a blast! We saw Brother Cupit, and he warned us on how his year mark is coming up and how the missionaries aren't supposed to be coming back after a year. What a silly guy! We saw SIster Gordon and her friend was there and she wanted us to teach her, sadly she lives in Cross Lanes, so we referred her to the Cross Lanes Sisters. We went and tried Sister Andrews and we found out that her boyfriend died in her house, so she's going through a rough time. So please please please pray for her. We were right where we needed to be that night though.
Saturday: HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESSICA!!! We went around and tried some potentials and formers around where we lived and then we went to President Lindhardts to watch conference. I LOVE CONFERENCE. This was my last one as a missionary so it was really special. We were watching it with the lindhardts, the assistants, the zone leaders, and the scotts. So much fun. :) We grilled burgers inbetween sessions. :) We taught Sister Minnich about the Word of Wisdom, lots of that this week, And she said she'd live it! We saw Azita again too, taught her about the plan of salvation and she didn't quite agree with it, but we ended on a good note.
Sunday: We went back to Presidents for conference. It was just us for the first session and then the zone leaders came for the second session. It was cool to be able to be with just them. I am so lucky to be here. The Lord takes care of me so well. We ate lunch with the Lindhardts, and they got to know us really well. Really funny to see your mission president go from being all serious at meetings to doing the dishes at his home. :) We went and saw the Mouls, and we watched one of the talks with them. We let them pick, and they picked one about the Book of Mormon which is perfect for them! Pray for them too. haha.
We just kept pinching ourselves saying "WHO DOES THIS??" when we were watching conference at presidents house. #blessed
This was a crazy week but a very spiritual week for me. The Lord is taking care of me, in small and simple ways. I LOVE HIM.
I WISH GENERAL CONFERENCE WAS EVERY WEEKEND. My favorite talks from General Conference were: Elder John C. Pingree Jr. (he was president lindhardts mission companion!!), Stephen W. Owen, Ronald A. Rasband, President Russell M. Nelson, President Henry B. Eyring, Tad R. Callister, and Elder Neal L. Andersons. So basically all of them. haha! I felt like the overlying theme for me is Humility and Service. So those are my two goals. :) I am gonna study these talks hardcore for the next six months. I challenge you to do the same! Find your favorite talks and dig in! :)
But my heart is broken because of Elder Robert D. Hales passing away. He is a speaker I have ALWAYS connected with for as long as I can remember. I will miss him dearly. The fact that he wrote a talk but wasn't able to give it is so sad. His last few sentences to us should always be remembered. "When we choose to have faith, we prepare to stand in the presence of God" But God needs him elsewhere now, till we meet again Elder Hales.
Welcome to October. :) I LOVE THE FALL. It's starting to get really beautiful out here, but that also means the cold is coming! haha.
Keep reading the Book that's more precious than diamonds and rubies. Keep praying to the one who knows you best. And keep going to church, the one place that will fill you up best.
I LOVE YOU ALL TO THE MOON AND BACK.
Sister Schoemig
